View from the big coupole at Nice Observatory

I'm currently a research assistant at the University of Manchester, after having completed my PhD thesis at the Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur in Nice,French Rivieira, under the supervision of Djamel Mékarnia and José Antonio de Freitas Pacheco.

My thesis dealed with the study of evolved stars of low and intermediate masses (between 0.8 and 8 sun masses). This stars are characterized by a strong mass-loss rate that leads to the creation of circumstellar envlopes (envolpes of dust and gas around the central star), which morphologies are often complex. I study these envelopes thanks to observations, mainly infrared, obtained with different big telescopes (ESO/VLT (Chile), CFHT (Hawaii)...)).

Composite image of three observations of Hen2-113 (Accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics (Lagadec et al. 2005)). The observations have been obtained withe the Hubble space telescope and the Very Large Telescope in Chile.
