The best way to reach Cannes from long distances is
by plane. Cannes is 26 km from the Nice
International Airport, which is the destination of frequent flights
from all the major European cities. Delta
Airlines has a daily direct flight from New York JFK. With other carriers,
travelers from US will have to pass through a major European city, such
as Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam or London. For people landing late in the
evening or leaving early in the morning, it is recommendable to spend
a night in the cheap and comfortable Campanile
Nice Aeroport Hotel, which has a free shuttle connection to/from the
airport terminal.
Travelers might also want to consider the possibility
of flying directly to the Milan
Malpensa airport (Italy) and drive a rental car from there (approximately
300 km, all on highways).
To go from the Nice Airport to Cannes, there is a regular bus connection. Bus 210 goes to Cannes every 30 minutes from 8 AM to 8 PM. It takes 50 minutes and costs 12,40 EUR. Bus 200 runs every 30 minutes from 7.30 AM to 10 PM, but takes 1 hour and 5 minutes and costs 9,50 EUR. Both busses stop and the Cannes bus terminal, very close to the Croisette Festival Palace, and hence to the Conference Hotels (see map).
The Croisette Beach Hotel can arrange taxi or mini van transfer from/to the airport at the cost of 72 EUR and 105EUR respectively, which can accommodate parties of 3 and 6 people. Please refer to the Hotel reservation form (.doc, .pdf). Taxies booked directly at the airport should charge approximately the same price, the exact amount depending on the traffic conditions.
Cannes is also on the Marseille-Nice railway line. The railway station is very close to the Meeting Hotels. Visit the SNCF website for the train timetable. TGV connection from Paris takes approximately 6 hours.
