Spiral Turbulence in Exitable Media.

Spiral patterns, often turbulent, are found in sereval excitable media.
In this talk I will summarise our studies of such turbulence in two models:
(a) the first is a model for the oxidation of CO on Pt (110);
(b) the second is a model for ventricular fibrillation,
a type of heart attack that is responsible for one out of every six deaths in USA.
I will also describe our recent suggestion for a method of controlling such turbulence,
which has obvious implications for defibrillation.
