Education

1988 : PhD in Physics at the University of Nice (with honors and the congratulations of the jury). Title of the thesis: "Hydrodynamique par la méthode des gaz sur réseaux", defended on June 17, 1988, at the Observatory of Nice (France).

1986 : DEA "Turbulence et Systèmes Dynamiques" (G. Iooss) at the University of Nice.

1985 : Mastership in Physics at the University of Paris VI.

1984 : Admission at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris).

Main research themes

2011-? : The C2PU project.

Refurbishing of two 1-meter astronomical telescopes, on the "Plateau de Calern" site of the "Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur", for:

  • Polarimetric studies of asteroids
  • Shape determination by light curve inversion for asteroids
  • Stellar occultations by MBO's and KB0's
  • Transiting exoplanets characterization
  • Binary stars astrometry by speckle interferometry
  • Follow-up of science alerts of the GAIA space probe

and for practical training of graduate students.

Collaboration with Lyu Abe (OCA), Philippe Bendjoya (OCA), Olga Suarez (OCA), David Vernet (Collège de France), P. Tanga (OCA), M. Delbo (OCA), A. Cellino (Turin Observatory), M. Devogèle (UNS and Liège University, Belgium), J. Surdej (Liège University, Belgium).

2010-2012 : Chromatic differential astrometry for exoplanets . Collaboration with the DIAMS team (OCA-UNS).

2008-2012 : Diffractive astronomical imaging: a new concept for future space. Collaboration with Laurent Koechlin (IRAP-Observatoire Midi Pyrénés).

2007-? : Extraterrestrial planets search by the transit method from the Concordia station (Dome C, Antarctica). Collaboration with the ASTEP team (OCA-UNS).

2001-2007 : Interferential coronagraphy and its application to the detection of circumstellar objects. Collaboration with J. Gay, Y. Rabbia (OCA).

1996-2013 : Relativistic and galilean statistical physics and stochastic processes. Collaboration with C. Chevalier, C. Barbachoux and F. Debbasch (ENS-Ulm, Paris).

1988-1996 : Lattice gases: theory and application to Fluid Mechanics. Collaboration with U. Frisch (OCA), M. Hénon (OCA) and J.P. Boon (ULB, Bruxelles).

Main teaching responsabilities

1998-2002 : "Introduction à l'Astronomie", series of introductive lectures on general astronomy, for Master-1 students from "Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis" (lecture notes in French).

1995 : "L'hydrodynamique des gaz sur réseaux": Lecture on lattice gas hydrodynamics for Master-2 students from "Université de Paris XI".

1990-1991 : "Les gaz sur réseaux" : series of lectures on discrte fluid models for Master-2 students from "Université de Nice".

1989 : Training courses in general mechanics for Licence-2 students from "Université de Paris VI".

1985-? : Training courses in general physics for preparatory school students.

Antarctic astronomical expeditions for the French Polar Institute (IPEV).

Polar stations visited: Concordia (France-Italy), McMurdo (USA), Scott (New-Zealand), Mario Zucchelli - Terra Nova Bay (Italy), Casey (Australia).

2009-2010 : Astronomical expedition (10 weeks) on the continental French-Italian polar station Concordia (setup of the photometric telescope "ASTEP400" for transiting exoplanets search).

2010-2011 : Astronomical expedition (10 weeks) on the continental French-Italian polar station Concordia (improvement of the photometric telescope "ASTEP400").

2012-2013 : Astronomical expedition (12 weeks) on the continental French-Italian polar station Concordia (refurbishing of the photometric telescope "ASTEP400").
