This 2h walking tour is about astronomy and history of the Observatoire de Nice. It starts at the gate of Nice’s site of the Observatory. After climbing the hill of the Mont-Gros and the stairs of the Garnier way, you will discover the Universarium", the observatory's museum which will make you question our origins and our place in the Universe - Where are we? Who are we? Where do we come from? You will enter the Great Dome, whose the frontside was designed by famous architect Charles Garnier. Inside, you will discover a 18-metre long refracting telescop under a huge metal dome we owe to the famous engineer, Gustave Eiffel.

Access
- By bus line n°84: departure from Riquier station (Nice) or Baie des Fourmis station (Beaulieu-sur-Mer). Stop at Observatoire station – See the line's time table here.
- By any personal vehicule or taxi: the entrance of the Observatory is located on the map below. You can park your car at the gate or in the nearby street “Avenue Brès”.
