The Henri Poincaré Junior Program of Côte d’Azur Observatory is openThis one proposes internships for international students wishing to perform a scientific training in one of the laboratories of the observatory. Those who agree to pay a contribution of EUR 250 trainees they present. The laureates will receive up to 2200 euros for a training period of 2 months or more.

What are the application conditions ?

You have to be a student in Master 2 or PhD (or equivalent) and from a country where astrophysical and Earth sciences are in development. Interested students should contact an OCA researcher in their discipline who prepares and files the application. This application is electronic and should include a letter of presentation of the student by the research staff host as well as a description of the proposed work. Applications should be submitted to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before May 30, 2016.

What are the privileged research areas?

Internships may be sought in any research field of the OCA, from astrophysics to geophysics representing a vast array of research opportunities:

Earth and space sciences, Earth-Ocean-Space interfaces:
Geodynamics, geochronology, geomechanics, marine geosciences, mechanical faults and earthquakes, imagery, modeling, natural hazards and vulnerabilities, space geodesy, laser ranging, transfer time.
> Contact: Géoazur department

Astrophysics, fluid dynamics and signal processing:
Origin of planetary systems, exoplanets, interferometry, coronography, instrumentation, galactic archeology, solar and stellar physics, cosmology, dark matter, inverse problems and image reconstruction, turbulence in fluids and plasmas, digital high-performance computing, modeling.
> Contact: Lagrange department

Multi-messengers astrophysics, gravitational waves:
Gravitational waves, astrophysics non photonics, compact objects, coalescing black holes, neutron stars, gravitation, research and development, quantum optics, stabilization of lasers, laser metrology, optical cavities of high fineness for energy storage, metrology.
> Contact: Artemis Department

What are the criteria for laurate selection?

The OCA Postdoctoral Committee selects candidates. The list of laureates will be published in the month of June 2016. The main criterion is the excellence of the application. Proposals that can lead to a longer-term collaboration are favoured. The program cannot fund co-supervised OCA’s students as the program’s aim is to help young scientists with new research perspectives.
